Client-Based Games
Client-Based Games are online games that require downloading and installing specialized client software on a computer or mobile device to access the game content - that is, to play the game. Compared to browser games or mobile apps, client-based games typically offer richer, more detailed, and diverse gameplay experiences. This is made possible by the more advanced and complex client program, which runs directly on the player's device after installation.
Since the client software can leverage the power of the computer's or mobile device's graphics processor, as well as preloaded and installed graphical assets, client-based games often deliver higher-quality animations and overall graphics, creating a more realistic game world. In contrast, browser games load their graphics every time a player logs in and run within a web browser using a JavaScript interpreter. This interpreter requires more processing power from the device compared to the precompiled code of a client program. Additionally, loading assets from the internet at each login can take longer and consume more data in browser games. In other words, all else being equal, the graphics in a client-based online game are typically of higher quality.
