Dungeon Hack is a combination of classic RPGs with a procedurally generated world, offering many hours of gameplay and featuring a Roguelike mode. When Roguelike mode is activated, your character will die permanently, erasing all saves associated with their adventure.
The game features a relatively complex character creation system for its time, especially when compared to other Roguelike games. Players can create a character in advance or select from a list of pre-generated characters, which is particularly useful when playing with the Roguelike mode enabled.
Dungeon Hack is based on the mechanics of AD&D second edition, where character stats and damage are determined by dice rolls (e.g., 2d2 means rolling a two-sided die twice and adding the results to calculate damage dealt to the enemy).
The game was released shortly after the Eye of the Beholder series and was inspired by its success. However, unlike Eye of the Beholder, where players control a group of characters, in Dungeon Hack, players control a single adventurer. The procedurally generated dungeons can be customized in terms of difficulty, with options to adjust the number of traps, puzzles, and monster encounters.
